Flood and carbon safe housing
Bamboo and lime homes that stand up to floods and tremors, built by trained local crews.
The challenge
What families face
In the disaster-prone south of Malawi, whole communities are displaced again and again by floods, cyclones and failing infrastructure. Mud and thatch homes collapse under the pressure.
Rebuilding every year is not sustainable. It drains money and hope, and without a safe home a family cannot get ahead.
Our approach
How we work on it, together
We build flood-safe, earthquake-resilient shelters from bamboo and other natural, affordable materials, and we train local residents to build them.
The homes are designed for heavy rain, wind and tremors. Breathable walls and stable foundations keep the inside temperature steady and need little maintenance.
What your gift does
Where your money goes
Your donation builds safety, skills and self-reliance. With your support we:
- Train community members in eco-construction
- Provide bamboo, lime and stabilised earth
- Create jobs through local housing cooperatives
- Build whole clusters of safe, sustainable homes
Sponsor a shelter. Empower a village. Build homes that last.
